MiRO Measurement Sets

Prev Next

The Circuit has a Measurement Set (MSET) that specifies which CMLs to inspect. For each inspection, a new MSET must be created. The Wall Thickness (WT) measurements are populated in here. IMS uses this data to calculate the Corrosion Rates (CRs) and Remaining Life (RL).

For each inspection a new MSET has to be created.

The inspector dictates which CMLs (and their Measurement Points (MPs)) should be measured, using the configuration rules in IMS. He creates a Measurement Set (MSET) for each Equipment where these MPs are registered and stored for Wall Thickness data. The MSET is the scope of work that has to be executed.

The Measurement Set (MSET) Work Process

At the Next Inspection Date (NID) of the Corrosion Schedule:

  • Go to your Circuit

  • Click the Measurement Set configurator button.

Click the MSET configurator button.

Take Note

Alternatively click the shortcut Icon Description automatically generated in the Circuit header. This will directly create a new MSET for all existing CMLs on the Circuit.

  •  Click the Plus button to create a new MSET.

Click the Plus button to create a new MSET.

Open the MSET.

  • Make sure all fields, e.g., Quality Indicator, are filled in for each WT measurement.

  • Click the Save button to save the MSET.

  • Click the Calculate button to calculate the MSET.

Save and Calculate the MSET.

  • The MSET Status will change to "Completed" after it has been calculated.

The MSET Status will change to Completed.

Caution

Make sure IMS Calculated is unchecked. This way only the M-IDAP NID and Time-Based NID take part in the horserace

  • Approve the Calculation Summary after your reviewed it.

As soon as the Calculation Summary is Approved, the Corrosion Schedule will be credited and a new Corrosion Schedule with the new NID from the Calculation Summary will be created.

When it's again time for an inspection, a new MSET has to be created and the above steps can be repeated. Note that a Circuit can only have one MSET in "DRAFT" or "EXPORTED PRINTED" status, i.e., readings must be entered before a new MSET can be created.

Manually Entering Wall Thickness (WT) readings directly in MSETs

You can manually enter WT readings directly into the MSET:

  • Go to your Circuit Details Page.

  • Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.

  • Open the Measurement Set by clicking on its ID hyperlink.

Open the MSET.

  •  Fill in all the data.

Tip

Completely fill in the first row, then enter the WT Measurement in the second row and press <Enter>, the date, technique, person, etc. will then be copied from the first row! This can save you some time.

  • Click the Save button when you are done.

  • Then click the Calculate button.

Importing Wall Thickness (WT) readings directly from Excel in MSETs

You can import WT measurements, filled into an Excel sheet, directly into a MSET.

To create the excel sheet:

  • Go to your Circuit Details Page.

  • Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.

  • Click the Generate Workpack button.

    Generate a Workpack.

  • Select the CMLs.

  • Make sure "Create Measurement Excel" is checked.

Make sure "Create Measurement Excel" is checked.

  • Click Download.

To import the filled excel sheet:

  • Go to your Circuit Details Page.

  • Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.

  • Click the Import button.

Importing the WT data into the MSET.

  •  Make sure Measurement Set is selected. Then click Browse.

  • Select your filled in file.

  • Click Next.

  • Follow the steps of the import wizard until completed. Then click on Show entities.

    Click Show entities when done.

  • Go back to the Circuit and open the Measurement Set by clicking on its ID hyperlink.

  • Make sure all fields are filled in.

  • Then Save and Calculate the MSET.

Importing Datalogger Wall Thickness (WT) readings in the Grid

You can import datalogger readings via the Grid tab into your MSET. You can either update or add new readings. The MSET's selected Inspection Method has to be "UT-R".

To import the datalogger readings:

  • Go to your Circuit Details Page.

  • Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.

  • Scroll the grid to the right and click the M button.

Click the M button.

  •  Click on the Grid tab.

Click on the Grid tab.

  • Make sure the Inspecting Company, Measurement Date, Insp. Method and Temperature is filled in.

  • Prepare the datalogger import files (you can either use a CSV or DAT file). For a DAT file:

    • On the first line, next to “FILE NAME”, the Equipment ID is written. In the below example the Equipment name is “INSP98-100-DN-1000-0”. This should be the name of the Equipment that you are working with. Note: No spaces are allowed in the Equipment ID.

    • The CML number is added after the Equipment ID, separated with a space. In the below example the CML is named “5”.

    • Save the file.

Example of a datalogger file.

  • Click on the Import button .

Clink on the Import button.

  • Choose Single Import or Multiple Import.

To import data on multiple CMLs select Multiple Import.

  • Follow the steps of the import wizard:

    • Click on the Browse button and select you file(s).

Caution

When you upload a DAT or CVS file the correct Impot type it will be automatically be selected. If you change this import and it does not match the file type you will get a warning.

The Import type should be recognized.

    • Click Next.

    • Review confirmation, warning, or errors.

Importing a datalogger file.

  • Click Next.

  • Click Done.

An imported grid.

  • Note that the grid measurements have now been populated.

  • Go to the Spot tab and notice that the minimum measurement from the Grid has now been added for the applicable CML(s) under GRID-MIN.

The GRID-MIN for applicable CML should be filled in.

  • You can now close this window.

  • Open the Measurement Set by clicking on its ID hyperlink.

  • Make sure all fields are filled in.

  • Then Save and Calculate the MSET.

Importing DIMATE-PACS Wall Thickness (WT) readings via Planned Events

See DIMATE-PACS interface.

Mitigating CMLs with a CAIR

It is possible to (risk) mitigate a CML with a CAIR. To do so:

  • Go to your Circuit Details Page.

  • Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.

  • Scroll the grid to the right and click the M button.

  • Click the Spot tab.

  • Right-click in the “Schedule” column of the applicable CML.

  • Click Mitigation.

Right-click in the Schedule column of the applicable CML.

  • A pop-up will open. Approved CAIRs associated with the Circuit’s linked Equipment will show in the list. Select one of the Approved CAIRs and click OK. (Or create a new CAIR from here - in this case, you will first need to Approve the CAIR before you can assign the CML to it).

Select an Approved CAIR.

  • The system will warn you that this action may trigger the recalculation of the Circuit. Click OK or Discard Changes.

  • After clicking OK, all the CML’s readings will be mitigated.

  • In the CML, the Schedule column displays the Description of the corresponding CAIR Schedule, with a link to its Details Page highlighted on an orange background. You can click on the flag to navigate to the associated CAIR Details Page.  Once the CAIR Schedule is both Credited and Accepted, the background changes to green.

Similarly, the Measurement History tab will display an orange or green flag on the Measurement Set of the respective CML.

The Measurement Set Grid and Toolbar

It is important to understand the role of Measurements and MSETs in the process of crediting Corrosion Schedules. For other Schedules, we use an ECH / Condition History record to credit the Schedules and create new Schedules when they are recurring.

Corrosion Schedules are always recurring, and an active Circuit requires exactly one active Corrosion Schedule. Instead of crediting the Schedule and creating a new one using an ECH, corrosion Schedules use Measurements/MSETs and Circuit Calc Summaries to credit the Schedule and create a new one.
