This article is one of the worked examples for RCM Queries. It shows how to list which System Functional Failures (FF) the Failure Modes (FMs) of an assigned RSL are mapped to, for a FLOC or piece of Equipment. When an RSL is applied to a FLOC or a piece of Equipment, the Failure Modes (FM) in the RSL can be assigned to various Functional Failures (FF) present in the System the FLOC/Equipment belongs to.
Because an RSL can be assigned to many FLOCs or pieces of Equipment, which can in turn be assigned to many different Systems, there can be a wide range of combinations of RSL-FM versus System-FF.
This is especially useful when a FLOC or a piece of Equipment is relevant to more than one Functional Failure and the RSL needs to be re-assigned. List the System Functional Failures the RSL’s Failure Modes are currently assigned to before making changes.
Example: One RSL, One Functional Failure
In the example below, the 6 Failure Modes of RSL "LC AC MOTOR (TT2)" are all assigned to one Functional Failure, "Low warm up". In this case, re-assigning the RSL is simple for all 6 Failure Modes.
Running the Query
The RSL application query starts with the Base view: "vwRCMData," and lists 12 fields.
In the example below, you can see the output of this query, showing which RSL-FMs are connected to which System-FFs:
