Erosion

Summary

Erosion is the progressive loss of material from a solid surface due to mechanical interaction between that surface and a multi-phase fluid. The two most common types of erosion result from the impact of solid particles carried with a flowing gas or liquid stream (solid particle erosion) or from the impact of liquid drops carried with a flowing gas stream (liquid drop erosion).
