Step 5 Review the Inspection History and Credit the DM:

Below is explained how to implement Step 5 in the Software. See also Methodology Step 5.

To create an Inspection History:

  • Open the RBI Assessment (see step 3).
  • Select the Component – DM combination, to be risk assessed.
  • Make sure that the assessment view is expanded to show the top section.

  • Select the Inspection History tab.
  • You will see the created ECHs and Calc Summaries in the grid.
  • If desired, click on Open ECH or Calc Summary to review the ECH or Calc Summary.
  • Select the applicable (normally the last) ECH or Calc Summary.
  • Click the red Apply button.

Note: If the selected ECH / Calc Summary is already applied, the Apply button will be inactive. Inherit Circuits and ECHs crediting Schedules with the RBI assessment in scope, are automatically Applied, when the ECH or Calc Summary is Approved. In this case you are done.

Fill In the popup:

  • The Inspection Date is defaulted to the ECH or CalcSum date. Change if desired.
  • Credit (check) the applicable DM(s), to confirm that it has been inspected.
Credit the DMs that were inspected.

  • If the Lining/Coating is in service and this was inspected, a value must be selected for the Lining/Coating Condition. "None" indicates that the Lining/Coating has not been inspected. For this reason, when "None" is selected, the respective Inspection History's date will not be applied as LID to the Lining/Coating. The LID will be taken from the last Inspection History where "Poor", "Average", or "Good" was selected for the Lining/Coating Condition. In this way the MII for the Lining/Coating is impacted (you can find an example of how this works in Step 6). Note: Coating Conditions is only applicable for External DMs while Lining Conditions is for Internal DMs. Therefore the scope of the ECH should also match against the DMs selected .
If Lining/Coating is applicable, this will also show here and must be credited as well if it was inspected.
  • Check Highlights if you want to append the Inspection History to the degradation history of the CL (see Step 2).
  • Optionally you can specify the Actual Wall Thickness. Note: For Tank Components, this is used in the tank LC calculations.
  • Furthermore, for informational purposes:
    • The Result field default is the short text for ECH or CalcSum. Change if desired.
    • Did the inspection result align with the assessment? should be ticked if the inspection result does not deviate from the expected condition of Equipment;.
    • You can specify an Incremental CR, and, if there are statutory inspections, you can also specify them here (Legal/local insp).
  • Click Save.

IMS will now use the ECH or Calc Summary date, as the Last Inspection Date for the selected DM(s).

Alternatively, a new ECH can be created by clicking the ECH icon, or an Inspection History can be added manually by clicking the +. Note: Do this only when there is no ECH or Calc Summary to Apply.

To create a new ECH, click the ECH icon, or click + to add an Inspection History manually.
